new artwork “TIME Code128”

“Time Code128” is a light object for wall, floor or table mounting.
From the “Clock Works” series.

Objects and products are equipped with a barcode to make the price and other data of this product readable for a machine, by means of a barcode reader. These can be found at every supermarket checkout. The machine eye needs barcodes to be able to recognize products quickly and reliably.

That‘s why it‘s time for us humans to get used to read barcodes as quickly and reliably as machines do. We have already learned to convert analog clock faces into a time number.
My solution presented is a barcode clock in the widely used Code128 format.

new artwork “TIME explicit”

“TIME explicit” is a light object for wall mounting.
From the “Clock Works” series.

My wristwatch reads 12:01, it‘s just after midday.

I can‘t help solving this math task every time I look at my wristwatch. Now it says 12:03 and that works out to be 12 divided by 3 = 4.00000. I wanted to simplify my life by developing a clock that calculates this for me every minute.

But since some of results are the same, e.g. the time 16:04 also gives 4.00000, the hours of this clock are displayed additionally as a light position and the minutes as a binary display for simplification. Instructions are enclosed 🙂

ART THINKING keynote at DAM Gallery Berlin

I just rediscovered a short (10min) recording by a viewer of my biographic talk about ART THINKING – how an artist thinks and how this determines his actions.

The keynote took place at DAM GALLERY in Berlin, which kindly provided the venue for Wolfram Roßner’s (briefly shown at the beginning) young project: Art Thinking.

(The video was recorded in 2019, the project has been discontinued due the pandemic or is dormant).

In the keynote I summarized my entire career in bullet points for the first time and made it accessible to the public. The format was a 10 minute impulse talk. The audio is unfortunately not very good, but I think you can understand most of it (german language only). Enjoy!
